Lone Wolf Masonry is Tim Phipps: a third-generation master craftsman who quotes your project, lays it himself, and doesn't leave until it's right.
That old saying is the closest thing Lone Wolf has to a motto, and it happens to be true of the man who runs it.
Tim Phipps has been sharing his passion for masonry for more than twenty years, and it shows in the way he treats a wall that most people will never look at twice. Masonry, for Tim, is not a job. It is a craft handed down through three generations, and he approaches every project like the family name is riding on it, because in a very real sense it is.
He is a third-generation master craftsman, and the attention to detail runs in the blood. He does not consider a project finished when the mortar sets. He considers it finished when it matches the vision, blends with what is already there, and looks like it has always belonged. His attention to detail is, frankly, notorious. It is the kind of perfectionism that can be maddening in a dinner guest and priceless in a mason. It is also the reason a Lone Wolf project blends into, complements, and elevates what was already there, indoors or out, and stays that way for years.
The name Lone Wolf is the whole philosophy in two words. Most masonry outfits bid the job with an estimator and then hand your home to whoever is free that week. Tim works the opposite way. The craftsman who quotes your project is the same craftsman who lays the first brick and tools the last joint. There are no subcontracted crews, no rotating faces, and no corners cut when the owner is not looking, because the owner is always looking. He is the one on the wall.
For a homeowner, that changes the whole experience of hiring a contractor. There is no salesman promising one thing and a crew delivering another. There is no phone tag trying to reach the one person who actually knows your job. You talk to the mason. He looks at your wall, tells you what he sees, and does what he said he would do. For most people, that alone is worth the call.

On site, start to finish · a Central Indiana build
Twenty years in one region does not happen by accident. It happens because the work holds up and the people who hired you tell their friends.
Almost every Lone Wolf project starts as a referral. A neighbor who saw the patio, a friend whose chimney we rebuilt, a designer who trusts us with clients they cannot afford to disappoint. What they are really referring is a way of working, and it comes down to a handful of standards Tim will not bend on.
Matching is the one he cares about most. Anyone can stack brick. Almost no one can make it disappear. A repair from the wrong crew announces itself for the next thirty years. A repair from the right mason is never noticed at all. That invisibility is the entire point of good masonry, and it is the hardest thing in the trade to deliver.
Good masonry is as much about the process as the product. Here is exactly how a Lone Wolf project runs, so you always know what is happening and who is doing it.
Tim comes to your property, looks at the actual conditions, and talks through what is possible. A real look at the job, not a phone guess.
A clear, competitive, free estimate. We tell you what the job needs and what it does not, and our bids often come in under what homeowners expect.
The same master mason who quoted it lays it, on time and on site, start to finish. Your home is never handed to a stranger.
We do not leave until it matches the vision and blends with what is already there. Then it stands for decades with almost no maintenance.

Stone and concrete insets salvaged and rebuilt as designed
A 1960 Indianapolis home, designed by the nationally recognized midcentury-modern architect Avriel Shull, had a very large retaining wall that had begun to buckle. Replacing it was not an option. The wall was the design. So Tim salvaged the original stone and concrete insets and rebuilt it exactly as it was drawn.

It was extremely important to have the rebuilt wall match the original design. Tim was able to salvage the original stone and concrete insets and rebuild the wall exactly as designed. Tim Phipps is a true craftsman."
