01 / The Lone Wolf Standard

One Mason, One Trowel,
One Standard On Every Joint.

Most masonry outfits bid the job with an estimator, then hand your home to whoever's free that week. That is not how Lone Wolf works.

Lone Wolf Masonry has been building and restoring brick and stone across Central Indiana for more than twenty years. The name is the philosophy: the craftsman who quotes your project is the same craftsman who lays the first brick and tools the last joint. No subcontracted crews, no rotating faces, no corners cut when the owner isn't looking, because the owner is always looking. He is the one on the wall.

Tim Phipps is a third-generation master mason, and the attention to detail runs in the blood. A project isn't finished when the mortar sets; it's finished when it matches the vision, blends with what's already there, and looks like it has always belonged. That is a rare thing to promise in the trades, and rarer still to deliver on a hundred homes running. It is the entire reason customers in Zionsville, Carmel, and Noblesville hand us their referrals to the pickiest people they know.

It also changes the whole experience of hiring a contractor. There's no salesman promising one thing and a crew delivering another, no phone tag trying to reach the one person who actually knows your job. You talk to the mason. He looks at your wall, tells you what he sees, and does what he said he'd do. For most homeowners, that alone is worth the call.

Brick and stone are the oldest building materials on earth for one reason: laid correctly, they outlast everyone who touches them. Our job is to lay them correctly. Meet the mason →

A Trade That Doesn't Forgive Shortcuts

Anyone Can Stack Brick.
Almost No One Can Make It Disappear.

There is a difference between brick that is installed and brick that is laid. The first is a product dropped on a wall. The second is a craft, coursing that runs dead level over forty feet, head joints struck to the exact profile of the originals, a color and bond so close to the existing wall that a neighbor can't tell where the old work ends and the new begins.

That invisibility is the entire point of good masonry, and it is the hardest thing in the trade to deliver. It's why a repair from the wrong crew announces itself for the next thirty years, and why a repair from the right mason is never noticed at all. Matching is where twenty years of hand-work separates a craftsman from a laborer with a trowel.

Every wall Lone Wolf builds, from a chimney rebuild in Fishers to a full stone facade in Zionsville, is held to that same standard: it has to look like it has always belonged there, and it has to still be standing long after the mason who built it is gone. Brick and stone are permanent. We treat them that way.

02 / What We Build

Full-Service Masonry,
Indoors And Out.

New build or restoration, residential or commercial, if it's brick, block, or stone, it's what we do all day, every day.

"Full-service" isn't a throwaway phrase here, it's the honest description of a shop that can pour and lay a foundation, build the facade above it, tuck the chimney on the roof, and set the patio and firepit out back, all with the same crew and the same standard. Whatever your project touches, you're working with one accountable mason rather than juggling three specialists who each blame the other. Here's the core of what we build:

03 / Signature Restoration

The Midcentury Wall
We Rebuilt Stone
For Stone.

A 1960 Indianapolis home, designed by the nationally recognized midcentury-modern architect Avriel Shull, had a very large retaining wall that had begun to buckle. Replacing it wasn't an option; the wall was the design. So we salvaged the original stone and concrete insets and rebuilt it exactly as it was drawn, joint for joint.

"Tim was able to salvage the original stone and concrete insets and rebuild the wall exactly as designed. Tim Phipps is a true craftsman."

05 / How A Lone Wolf Job Runs

No Surprises. No Subcontractors.
Just The Work, Done Right.

Good masonry is as much about the process as the product. Here's exactly how a Lone Wolf project runs, from the first phone call to the last joint tooled, so you always know what's happening and who's doing it.

01

We Walk It Together

Tim comes to your property, looks at the actual conditions, and talks through what's possible, not a phone guess, a real look at the job.

02

An Honest Quote

A clear, competitive, free estimate. We'll tell you what the job needs and what it doesn't. Our bids often come in under what homeowners expect.

03

Laid By The Owner

The same master mason who quoted it lays it, on time, on site, start to finish. Your home is never handed to a stranger.

04

Built To Outlast

We don't leave until it matches the vision and blends with what's already there. Then it stands for decades with almost no maintenance.

06 / Why Brick & Stone

The Last Thing
You'll Ever Re-Do.

Masonry has been the material of choice for tens of thousands of years, and the reasons haven't changed. Brick and stone don't rot, dent, warp, rust, or burn below 4,000°F. They don't need painting. They shrug off wind-driven debris that tears through vinyl and fiber-cement. And they carry a thermal mass that keeps a home cooler in July and warmer in January.

  • Fire ResistanceNon-combustible clay and stone, the reason insurers price brick homes the way they do.
  • Near-Zero MaintenanceNo rot, no repaint, no rust. Masonry is one of the few materials that looks better with age.
  • Energy & ResaleThermal mass that evens out the seasons, and stonework that lifts a home's resale value.

Fire & Storm

Clay brick is fired to roughly 2,000°F, so it simply won't burn, the reason insurers price masonry homes the way they do. Independent testing has shown brick homes shrug off wind-driven debris that tears straight through vinyl and fiber-cement siding.

Moisture & Structure

A properly built brick-veneer wall manages moisture better than almost any other cladding, which means less mold, less wood rot, and fewer corroded fasteners in the wall behind it. Tuckpointing failing joints protects that structure for decades.

Comfort & Value

Masonry's thermal mass stores heat and releases it slowly, keeping a home cooler through a July afternoon and warmer on a January night. And genuine brick and stone read as quality to buyers, real, lasting resale value built into the walls.

07 / Where We Work

Owning The North Side,
One Wall At A Time.

Based in Whitestown and built for Central Indiana's north side, from Zionsville estates to Noblesville additions.

Central Indiana's north side is where our reputation was built, one referral at a time. The custom-home corridors of Carmel and Zionsville, the established neighborhoods of Westfield and Noblesville, the additions and outdoor projects going up across Fishers and Brownsburg, this is the ground we know by heart. We know the brick the big builders used out here in the 90s and 2000s, so we can match an addition to a twenty-year-old facade. We know how Indiana's freeze-thaw winters work on mortar and chimneys, so we build joints that shed water instead of trapping it. And we know that on the north side, the finish is everything, a wall that's almost right isn't right at all.

Being local isn't a slogan for us; it's the whole model. Because Tim lives and works here, your project isn't a two-hour drive that gets squeezed in between bigger jobs three counties away. It's down the road. That's why we can show up when we say we will, come back if something ever needs a look, and stake our name on work our neighbors drive past every day.

We also serve Indianapolis, Lebanon, and the surrounding communities. If you're on Central Indiana's north side and it's made of brick or stone, we can help, just ask →

S. Laviolette · Zionsville

"I've worked with many contractors over the years and it's often a struggle to get them to begin when they promised. Not the case with Tim and his crew. They were there on time and worked hard to get the job done."

D. & J. Dye · Noblesville

"I'm so happy with the work done on my chimney. Tim got it done on time and on budget. He gave us a free quote and did the work himself. I highly recommend Lone Wolf Masonry."

09 / Good Questions

Before You Call,
You're Probably Wondering…

Straight answers to what homeowners ask us most. More on the full FAQ →

No. Every estimate is free and no-obligation. Tim comes out, looks at the actual job, and gives you an honest quote, often less than homeowners expect for the amount of work involved.

Never. The master mason who quotes your project is the one who lays it, from the first brick to the last joint. It's the whole reason the name is "Lone Wolf."

Yes, matching is where a real mason earns his keep. We match brick color, bond pattern, and mortar so repairs and additions blend into what's already there instead of standing out. We've even salvaged and re-laid original stone to preserve a home's design.

Both, residential and commercial, interior and exterior. New facades and outdoor living on one hand; tuckpointing, chimney rebuilds, and full restorations on the other.

Yes, Lone Wolf Masonry is fully insured. You can hire us with confidence on any residential or commercial project.

It depends on how far the damage has gone. Crumbling mortar joints, a few spalling (flaking) bricks, or a leaning chimney crown can often be repaired or rebuilt from a certain course up. Once the structure itself has shifted, bowed, or separated, a full rebuild is usually the honest answer. The only way to know is to look, Tim will tell you straight which one your project actually needs, not which one costs more.

Spring through fall is ideal, because fresh mortar needs temperatures above freezing to cure properly. That said, a good mason can work into the colder months with the right precautions. The busy season fills up fast, so if you're planning a patio, wall, or restoration for the year, it's worth reaching out early to get on the schedule.

Both. Lone Wolf works on residential and commercial properties, interior and exterior, from a homeowner's fireplace to a neighborhood's entrance walls and light commercial masonry. If it's brick, block, or stone, it's in our wheelhouse.

We take pride in the small jobs as much as the large ones. A few cracked joints today is a repair; ignored for five winters, it's a rebuild. We'd rather fix it while it's small, and plenty of our biggest projects started as a homeowner calling about one loose brick.

The Hand On The Wall

Masonry, for Tim Phipps, Is A Passion , Not A Job.

The old saying goes that if you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life. That's Tim Phipps. He's been sharing his passion for masonry for more than twenty years, and it shows in the way he treats a wall that most people will never look at twice.

Tim is a third-generation master craftsman who doesn't consider a project finished until it's exactly what was envisioned. His attention to detail is, frankly, notorious, the kind of perfectionism that can be maddening in a dinner guest and priceless in a mason. It's the reason a Lone Wolf project blends into, complements, and even elevates what was already there, indoors or out, and stays that way for years.

That dedication to the work and to the people who hire him is rarer than it should be in the trades. It's the whole reason the referrals keep coming, and the reason we can promise something most contractors can't: the person who quotes your job cares about it like it's his own. Read Tim's story →

The Short Version

Why Central Indiana Keeps
Handing Us The Trowel.

Twenty years in one region doesn't happen by accident. It happens because the work holds up and the people who hired you tell their friends. Almost every Lone Wolf project starts as a referral, a neighbor who saw the patio, a friend whose chimney we rebuilt, a designer who trusts us with clients they can't afford to disappoint.

What they're really referring is a way of working. One master mason who quotes the job and lays it himself. Free, honest estimates that often come in under what people brace for. Bids that tell you what the job needs and, just as important, what it doesn't. A crew that shows up when it says it will and doesn't leave until the work matches the vision.
